First Quarter Report 2021

FIRST QUARTER REPORT

For the Period

January 1 – March 31, 2021

Medical

During the quarter 95 patients were treated at Pius Health Clinic with the following types of illnesses and injuries: diarrheal disease (1); heart disease (9); malaria (38); respiratory infection (10); road injury (3); other illness (52); other injury (8). NOTE: Patients often have multiple illnesses and/or injuries.

Accomplishments and Notifications


  • Our heart-felt thanks to all contributors including members of Sunday Seculars, Fayette County, Georgia.
  • Donation of a second medical microscope from Fayette Family Practice, Fayetteville, Georgia received. Delivery date not established.
  • Completion of hiring of Medical Doctor, Laboratory Technician/Nurse Assistant, Nurse/Midwife, Janitor/Gardener.
  • Two vaccination days held. Four critical condition patients were treated. 
  • Outpatient and limited (3 patients) inpatient treatment and care now provided on a 24-hour basis.
  • Establishment of clinic reporting procedures: spreadsheet created for tracking donor contributions and disbursements; creation of a three-tier prioritization of clinic needs form; creation of a care provided log by date and type of treatment given.
  • First prioritization of clinic needs forms completed & submitted by PHC Dr. Soita.
  • Thanks to the assistance of a Sunday Secular member, contact has been established with the head of Rotary Club Mbale, Uganda. The local Rotary representative is in contact with the Pius Health Clinic Uganda Charity, Ltd. directors and has visited the clinic to confer with PHC Uganda staff. Rotary Mbale was given verbal notification that PHC needs subsidization to lower purchase cost of medicines and assistance with operating costs; and that PHC needs funding for drilling a bore hole water source at/near the clinic.
  • On February 8, 2021, Pius Health Clinic Uganda Charity (PHCUC) was registered as a charitable organization with the State of Georgia, USA, Permit# CH015557.
  • On February 23, 2021, PHCUC applied for 501(c)(3) IRS federal tax-exempt status for itself and for the benefit of those making charitable contributions. Contributors to PHCUC will be notified if/when the IRS tax-exempt determination letter has been received.
  • On March 12, 2021, PHCUC was certified by the State of Georgia, USA as a non-profit corporation, Certificate Control# 21073296.
  • Application for a Not-for-Profit City of Fayetteville Occupational Tax Permit (Business License) will be submitted upon receipt of an approved IRS tax-exempt determination letter.
  • Upon receipt of the IRS tax-exempt determination letter PHCUC will begin comprehensive fundraising activities by GoFundMe, social media, and individual and organization outreach to provide clinic support opportunities to others in addition to that being provided by Sunday Seculars.
  • On March 23, 2021, Non-Profit Bylaws and Articles of Organization for Pius Health Clinic Uganda Charity, Ltd. were written and approved by the PHCUC directors. Articles and bylaws are available upon request.
