Third Quarter Report 2021
For the Period
July 1 – September 30, 2021
Accomplishments
During the third quarter a total
of 224 patients were treated at PHC: 103 Males, 121 Females. There were 21
inpatients and 203 outpatients. A total of 237 treatments were administered for
the following illensses/injuries: Pelvic Inflammation Disease (3); Peptic Ulcer
Disease (13); Heart Disease (15); Malaria (67); Respiratory Infection (12);
Urinary Tract Infection (23); Other Illness (96); and Injury (8).
Two patients were treated for
COVID during the quarter. Uganda remained under COVID lockdown during the
quarter. The number of patients visiting our clinic has gone up since the
government restricted in-country travel a couple of weeks ago due to a second
wave of the coronavirus. In that locals cannot go to towns, hospitals, or
larger clinics, more are coming to our clinic.
During the quarter the seasonal
rains began and as usual malaria-carrying mosquitos contributed to an increase
in malaria cases treated at the clinic.
Culverts were installed
connecting the road and the clinic driveway.
Purchasing of uniforms and smocks
was completed for the doctor and nurses, and the security guard.
An old, dilapidated
mud kitchen hut at the clinic was demolished. In its place we plan to
build a four-room, multi-purpose local brick and plaster building that will
have an in-patient ward, surgery, storeroom, security guard room, and kitchen.
A blood pressure testing machine
and stand, and an IV drip stand were purchased. Both stands were locally made
in Uganda.
The clinic purchased a centrifuge
for the lab.
Pius Health Clinic Uganda Charity
received its City of Fayetteville, GA, USA Occupational Tax Certificate
(Business License) as a non-profit fundraising charity, License #
26634. We are now in full compliance with all federal, state, and local
requirements for charitable organizations.
In July PHC held its first live
Zoom professional staff meeting. Meeting minutes are attached.
Efforts have begun to obtain an
official land title for Pius Health clinic.
During the quarter we had one seriously ill inpatient last week, an elderly woman with a severe upper respiratory infection. The nurses treated her, returned her to good health and released.
During the quarter PHC began receiving free nutritional supplements and medical supplies from local Ugandan NGO Bamaayi Community Development Initiative (BACODI).
PHC continued to provide free children's immunizations.
Wa Pita – Village Café, the independent small café we recently opened very nearby, has helped the clinic provide fresh, inexpensive, yet wholesome meals to our inpatients. Wa Pita - Village Café, another modest local community development project of ours, like the clinic, has created jobs and improved lives in the village of Immy Rose’s upbringing. Wa Pita – Village Café is a private, independent for-profit entity. The café was not constructed and is not otherwise funded by Pius Health Clinic Uganda Charity. Meals are provided by Wa Pita to PHC at a discount.
Thank you to all financial
contributors and contributors in kind!
